Can anyone give me advice on how to cheaply post my bulk parcels?

I send approx 50 parcels a week by 2nd class recorded post through Royal Mail and the cost seems to have risen so much lately, so I was wondering if there were any cheaper options or services that people were aware of? I've heard of a few where the parcels are picked up from you, which would be amazing, but I'm not sure what companies provide this sort of service? Any help would be greatly appreciated!Can anyone give me advice on how to cheaply post my bulk parcels?
Xtx's answer sounds good, but you have to be lucky to find something like that - it seems more of a casual arrangement, something that not all hauliers are going to be willing to do. I should also imagine you'd need to have your parcels regularly going to the same places for this to work.





I work for Royal Mail, but I also regularly buy and sell goods online, so I am always looking for the cheapest option. Royal Mail will usually offer the best rates for a casual customer with a small amount of mail like yourself.





I know many couriers do door to door service, including DHL who tend to be expensive, but specialise in next-day delivery, or Royal Mail's ParcelForce, who specialise in bulky items. To get this, you have to pay a bit more. If your items are bulky, ParcelForce is ideal. Its benefits from state-owned status to give a cheaper service, but also its not as efficient. You get what you pay for.





In my experience, as a customer, not an employee, if you just want low priority service, with basic tracking, Royal Mail is the most cost-effective.





Costs have risen, they still rise independently of inflation (meaning jumps are more sudden and noticeable), but the service is still far more cheaper than any other. Its also got 100% coverage across the UK, and worldwide, as a member of the UPU, which is something that most couriers don't have.





Oh, one final thought that I've just had. If you live in one of the major cities, and are only sending within that city, you may find that hiring a biker is more cost-effective, and some couriers specialise in inner-city express delivery.Can anyone give me advice on how to cheaply post my bulk parcels?

Try a web search or a phone call to find out the terms on offer.

Give Royal Mail a call and ask if they can beat the quotes you get from UPS TNT FedEx etc then bearing in mind that at least for the moment Royal Mail is 100 per cent UK and not foreign owned, select the service most appropriate to your needs.

If you contact your local courier service, or national for example FedEx or UPS, they will be more than happy to ask you information and sort some contract deal between you both at a cheaper price than Royal Mail. There are a few websites areound, just give them an email for more information!

i work in an office and we actually use a haulage company. we meet one of the lorry drivers at a bus stop down the road, load him up (above 5-6 parcels) and hey presto. it is miles cheaper! give a couple local companies a phone and get quotes.
