Can i have advice on how to prolong the life of my xbox?

Ok within 1 years I've been through 2 xbox's breaking. I can't even begin with how pissed I am at microsoft and they're flimsy equipment.

When and if i do get a new one I'm going to need a proper setup to prolong its life.

Anyone got suggestions or pictures that guarentee at least 2 years of gametime? Can i have advice on how to prolong the life of my xbox?
Well, one thing is DO NOT buy the Nyco Intercooler because it melts onto your XBOX, voids your warranty and does the opposite of what it is said to do. Don't play for a long time, 24 hours is the most that you want to leave it running, but I recommend just capping it at 6 hours, or feel your XBOX every once in a while to see if it is hot. If it is getting warm, turn it off and unplug it and place it near a fan or AC vent. If you are buying from retailer, or if MS sells them now, buy the extended warranty and if it is from places like GameStop or EB Games then they will trade it out for a new one or used one on the spot, one of the two I don't know I have only had my XBOX for a year and no problems. Do not stack your XBOX on top of other consoles, DVD players, cable/DirecTV boxes or anything else to prevent red rings or possibly E74. To preserve your disc drive, store the XBOX horizontally instead of vertically, as, in my case, my copy of NFS MW was scratched with the circular ring scratch by the reader. After I started storing it on it's side, then I had no problems with discs. Since XBOX 360 is very overheat-happy, the smartest thing to do is keep a small fan behind your XBOX, wether it be in a TV cabinet, on the ground, or even hanging from the ceiling, wherever it might be, keep the fan there and turned on. To reduce burnout of the fan and to keep the console fan preserved (as many RRoD have been caused because of overheats caused by the fan burning out and not working) you should install the games you play the most (say if you are a die-hard Halo 3 fan, install it) to your hard drive and the game will run without the fan.Can i have advice on how to prolong the life of my xbox?
Hey Sean,

I have had my Xbox 360 for about 2 years now and haven't had a problem, and here's why i think you should do. Buy an intercooler, there really cheap. Also, try padding the bottom and sides with bubblewrap, using ducttape to keep it on securly. Also, you could make sure to not have it on for extended periods of time. Another wise investment would be to purchase a Microsoft Xbox 360 warranty. Under this warranty Microsoft will pay your fees. I hope i was of some assistance.
So many people have so many strategies, but you don't really need to do ANYTHING. My first Pro lasted 2.5 years of very heavy usage and hadn't seen a problem until it got stolen. I did absolutely nothing to prolong the life of that system, it sat on the floor and saw many 18 straight hours of use without problems at all.
there are a number of things you can do to keep your xbox in good shape.

-dont run it for too long at a time

-make sure it has a good area for free air (also helps to stand it up vertically)

-make sure room temperture isnt too hot or cold

-dont let dust compile up on or near it
