Does anyone have any good advice on how to get my Yorkie to go to the bathroom outside?

I put a string of bells on the door knob and every time I take her out i ring the bells and say 'outside' and when she does her 'business' I praise her and give her a treat - soon she will catch onDoes anyone have any good advice on how to get my Yorkie to go to the bathroom outside?
crate him. dogs don't like to potty where they sleep. the confinement keeps them from going in there. when they get agitated take them DIRECTLY outside and say ';go potty'; they will learn to let you know. You can reinforce the behavior with treats as well. but when he launches or leaks outside you need to praise him. This will make him feel good about taking his business outside.
Try to take it out at set times and reward it. It worked for your lab.
do they have a favorite spot in the house to go?...

maybe recreate that environment outside... if they have a fav rug to go on, then take that rug outside and leave it out... maybe the smell of it will keep the pooch attracted to the rug, and not so focused on the inside part of the deal...
Take him outside at regular times. Stay out there with him, and don't let him or you go back inside the house until he's done his business.

If you find any little messages inside the house, get the dogs attention, point to the mess, then tell it in a firm voice not to go there again. Then carry the mess outside (if you can) ans tell him that this is where it's meant to go. Make your point by placing the mess on the ground, whilst the dog is watching.

It'll take about a month, but it's worth it.
