i need answers from individuals who have been there. How come advice is so damn easy to give, especially by individuals who have never been there?
Been Where? How do you know? You might be right, and just in the wrong arena for experiential knowledge.
You may say you're an expert on sugar, but if you've never tasted it's sweetness or felt it's stickiness, how can you say you know sugar? Chinese ProverbHow come advice is so damn easy to give, especially by individuals who have never been there?
People who haven't been there might have the advantage of being objective, have some knowledge about the topic, or just want to help.
Someone who's been there can give you advice from one person's experience - one person who might not be all that similar to you. Someone who's studied it (not that everyone giving advice always has, obviously) can give you information from the collected studies/experiences of hundreds of people.
And *everyone* who gives you advice gives you a fresh perspective, novel connections or ideas, and an individual twist. If you don't like it, don't take it. Listening and considering advice costs you nothing.
Depending on the type of advice asked, it's often better to get it from someone that is not biased as to the outcome (ie; ';been there';)..
We can all give advice from different points of view; however, it's up to the individual as to the advice they accept to assist them in the scenario. We all want an expert's opinion at some point if it is important, but we either want to hear more than one opinion, or different opinions when we are faced with multiple options.
My experience with other peoples advice that haven't been there or done that is just their opinion, and it was meant for me to hear, some new information( booksense people) I didn't know or I listen and let it fly right over my head.
Advice is so easy to give because you get 2 points for each answer
More answers = more points
It doesn't matter how good the answers are; they all get 2 points
The lucky one (best answer) gets 10 points
Because we are all therapists and probably fucked up anyway.
its free and you all love freebies
